Pastor and Evangelist Sponsorship
'And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions
and belongings, and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need." Acts 2:44-45
National evangelists and pastors are typically much more effective in reaching those within their own culture than are foreign missionaries.
Not only do nationals evangelize and disciple their own culture more effectively, but they are able to do it at a small faction of the financial cost of preparing, sending and supporting a missionary from the western world. A typical cost for a western missionary is $3,000-6,000/month vs. $100-250/month for a national in most of the developing nations. Additionally, there is little to no travel, furlough or language learning costs. Another important advantage to supporting national evangelists and pastors is they can be prepared for the ministry much more quickly. Most nationals are trained from one to two years, and then are sent out to evangelize and plant churches. Most do it very successfully under very difficult conditions. Although the cost per evangelist/pastor and per convert is much lower with the nationals, they need the financial support, encouragement and sometimes training from their western Christian brothers and sisters. In many of these countries the average per capita income is $1-2 per day and often only one person per family is able to find employment.
We are currently partnered with national ministries that have an evangelist and/or pastor training program.
We connect with thriving, growing ministries reaching Hindus, Muslims and Animists for Christ. These ministries connect candidates to their training program, assist them through training and provide placement for evangelistic work in unreached areas.
The evangelist/pastor programs are a combination of one-on-one mentoring, pastoral seminar training, live-in programs for learning Bible study methods, and study of preaching and evangelistic methods. These programs have already trained thousands who have planted hundreds of churches and reached thousands of souls for Christ. On average, less than 3% of funds given to missions is directed to unreached areas.
